Fighting all prostate diseases
One in two men will suffer from a prostate disease at some stage in their lives. We seek to limit the damage this causes by raising awareness, providing information and financing both medical research and the training of healthcare professionals.
Prostate cancer kills one man every hour in Britain. More research is urgently needed to refine screening and to develop more effective treatments. In March 2006, Prostate Research Campaign UK awarded almost half a million pounds to research grants - this is an unprecedented increase of 33 percent from 2005 and only made possible by the support of people like you.
Education of the public and of healthcare professionals is vital for prostate problems to be caught and treated early. The charity funds free training seminars which are attended by around 500 GPs and nurses each year, giving them the latest information in this rapidly changing field. New brochures have also been produced on all of the diseases, including BPH and Prostatitis, and the demand for these has grown dramatically; the charity is also about to produce its first brochures in minority languages.
