Help us to stop prostate diseases ruining lives
CHARACTERIZATION OF METASTATIC PROSTATIC CARCINOMA IN BONE IN-SITU HYBRIDIZATION.

A A Bryden, N J R George

University of Manchester

Tragically the primary researcher, Gordon Bryden died shortly after the research finished and he was unable to produce a report.  However the in-situ hybridization project was a great success and Mr. Bryden was awarded a Mastership as a consequence.  His work has been continued by his colleagues and the unit have developed an increased understanding of the mechanisms of metastasis in bone.  His work showed that a "parathyroid hormone-related peptide2" is expressed by prostate cancer and showed how prostate cancer cells secrete an enzyme which breaks down proteins in the host, thereby, facilitating invasion.
