Help us to stop prostate diseases ruining lives
THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PROSTATE CANCER DATABASE

Prostate cancer is common and although commonly diagnosed is not always the cause of death. Indeed men frequently die "with it" rather than "from it". As only localized cancer will be "cured" by surgery it is important we know as much about the disease as possible before committing anyone to surgery.

This clinical research has sought to achieve that aim by building up a database from patients with prostate cancer, detailing their symptoms and laboratory findings from both blood samples, and, where relevant, surgical specimens, and correlating these data with their survival after diagnosis.

This is research which is valuable now but which will provide future researchers with a very useful resource.
